Harvex Geosolutions Limited, in partnership with GeoSoftware C.V. and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), is proud to announce the launch of the GeoSoftware-Harvex University Assistance Program (GHUAP). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry application by providing comprehensive geophysical and petrophysical interpretation tools and techniques to Nigerian universities, promoting local content and expertise in Nigeria.
Through the GHUAP initiative, universities are provided with GeoSoftware HampsonRussell, a comprehensive suite of reservoir characterisation tools, and PowerLog licenses, the industry-leading petrophysical interpretation software. These tools will enhance the educational experience and prepare students for real-world challenges in the geosciences industry.
The GHUAP kick-off meeting was held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, with over 20 Nigerian universities contacted to be part of the initiative. We are pleased to announce that over 7 universities have already been issued licenses, marking a significant step forward in our mission to support education and foster local talent in the field of geophysics and petrophysics.
Harvex Geosolutions Limited remains committed to nurturing the next generation of geoscientists and contributing to the advancement of Nigeria's oil and gas sector. We look forward to the positive impact the GHUAP will have on academic institutions and the broader geosciences community.

Harvex Geosolutions Limited, in partnership with Shearwater GeoServices (UK) Limited and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), is thrilled to announce the launch of the Shearwater-Harvex University Assistance Program (SHUAP). Our ethos as an organisation is to champion and promote local content through the transfer of knowledge and know-how, enabling local expertise to harness exploration plays and optimise production. With this initiative, we aim to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry application by providing Nigerian universities with licenses for Shearwater’s Reveal software, along with technical support and training.
Given that Reveal runs strictly on a Linux-based operating system, on Friday, 14th July 2023, universities received donations of Linux workstations from Harvex to aid their onboarding process. Currently, the University of Ilorin, Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering: University of Benin, Mountain Top University, and Covenant University have joined a global academic community using the Reveal software to train the next generation of seismic processors in the theory and practice of seismic data processing.
On May 28th and 29th, 2024, Harvex conducted a 2-day training for lecturers from the aforementioned universities. This training helped academic personnel learn how to navigate Reveal’s interface, carry out various pre-processing sequences, noise attenuation, and quality control methodologies.
Expressing his gratitude after the training, Prof. Difference Ogagarue of Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin said,“I want to use this opportunity to thank you again for the well-organised training program we attended last week. I am grateful to you and your management for the opportunity—my sincere thanks to Harvex Geosolutions and the Shearwater-Harvex collaboration. To my knowledge, this is the first time a company (not just indigenous) is donating state-of-the-art seismic processing software to Universities in Nigeria, let alone offering training in the software. I see a great future for Harvex.”
We are confident that our academic institutions will elevate the banner of seismic processing in Nigeria through the research work that will emerge in the near future. Contact us if your institution is interested in joining this initiative.
